The Elder Scrolls games can be safely categorized as role-playing games (RPG), although they do include elements taken from action and adventure games. In Arena, as in many RPGs, players advance by killing monsters (and thereby gaining experience points) until a preset value is met, whereupon they level-up. However, in Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion the series took a skill-based approach to character advancement. Players develop their characters' skills by applying them, and only level-up when a certain set of skills have been developed. Skyrim took a new approach, where the more a skill is leveled, the more it helps to level the character. This shifted the focus away from character creation and more onto character development.

Games in the series that include anthros:

  • The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
  • The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Beastfolk Races:

Khajiit:

The Khajiit are a feline race native to Elsweyr, with inherent nocturnal vision. Their pointed ears have led some to believe their phylum contains mer blood. The "breed" of the Khajit is determined by the position of the moon. During their birth, there is supposedly more than 20 breeds of Khajiit but only 17 have been verified, the most common breed is the Cathay. Khajiit are known for their natural agility, stealth and skooma fabrication. They travel abroad selling their wares, and are not usually trusted. Khajiit typically refer to themselves in the third person.

Argonians:

The Argonians are a race of reptilian creatures, native to Black Marsh, the Argonians are highly resistant to disease and can breathe underwater. Argonians are the only race on Tamriel that are completely unrelated to men and mer, having descended from separate race called the Hist. Argonians possess tails, the only race besides the Khajiit to do so. When swimming they use their tails to propel themselves as they glide through the water like a fish. Both male and female Argonians exhibit sexual qualities similar to men and mer, but no well-documented cross-breed offspring have been discovered, possibly because Argonians are egg-layers.

Werewolves:

In Bloodmoon and Skyrim, werewolves are featured prominently in quests. In Skyrim, you can even receive a gift or curse which allows you to transform into a werewolf once a day by completing the Companion's quest line.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim

Everyone knows that its been a while since Bethesda made a new elder scrolls, and that everyone (including me) was excited about the coming of there newest sequal Skyrim. Skyrim is a nation in the famous realm of Tamreil. I have all but beaten the campain and done a ton of side quests. Through hours of vigorus play. An I have to say i was quite impressed on how the gameplay matched from previous elder scrolls, like Oblivion. Overall the grafics where some of the best graphics Ive seen on a console. (I played through the Xbox360). But I had friend complaints about the game messing up because of how nice there graphic resolution was on the TV or there xbox was just outdated. It was messing up in ways like people not walking and just floating above the ground and horses running sideways and such. I have noticed this is only happening to people with the older Xbox pros and Arcades. I however ran mine on a 256gig slim.
The gameplay was similar to Oblivions and the story to the game was interesting and kept me playing. Although while I found it cheap that I would actualy look for armor and weapons. By killing people or going through dungeons. As where all my friends would just Smith them using the Blacksmithing ability, newly introduced to Skyrim. I do have to admit there are unique weapons and armor in the game that you cant smith, but about everything else you can make with a few clicks of a button. Anouther problem I had with the game was that the missions for guilds and clans where just too short. I remenber how long it took to go through the Dark Brotherhood quests in Oblivion. It seems that in Skyrim that there are only a few missons for most of the guilds. The introduction of werewolves in skyrim had me a little worryied. Hoping they would make it balanced and not all in favor of your side in fights when you played as a werewolf. And I was glad to see they didnt. Its easy to become a werewolf from the Campanions and you cant change into one for very long. But you can however change into them once a day whenever you choose. Anouther factor I admired about Skyrim was that the addition to companions.(AI`s that helped you in the game to overcome tasks). I always loved the companions in fallout new vegas and i see them as someone who is just willing to serve you. True your companions can die but there is a vast amount of them in the game and they are very helpful. You can only have up to 2 companions following you at a time. But really thats all you need.
Next I admire how many options you have to well do whatever you want so to speak. There are soo many parts in the campain that lets you choose how you want to do a mission or who you want to side with. EX: stormcloaks and Imperial Leagion. The ability to sprint and fast travel has offered newer and faster ways to get around skyrim. There is also a abuntunt amount of species to kill ranging from Chickens to gigantic Ancient Dragons. Anouther factor they have added in is shouts, shouts are the ability to call upon elemets and nature to aid you in battle agenst your foes. Anywhere from Tossing them backward or calling upon a thunderstorm to strike enemys down. To use shouts you have to do 2 things find the word walls(which are all around skyrims dungeons and caves)to learn the shout then harness a dragon soul to spend on the shout. Harnessing a dragon soul is simple just kill a dragon...simple enough right? Well dont worry its not that hard and spells and your weapons will aid you in the fights. There are diffrent types of dragons that i wont get into such as blood dragons, elder dragons, and ancient dragons. But there arent many around in skyrim. Mainly if you go to a major land mark like a major town for the first time there will likey be one there waiting for you.But overall the ability to enchant weapons, get married, never ending quests, and the abunduce of items in the game. Scores this one a solid 7 in my book. If you have ever played Bethesda games or even the previous elder scrolls, or just looking for a engrossing game to play offline this is the game for you. Hours of fun and adventure on Skyrim!^-^

Yes, there are a myriad of side-quests. No, they aren't on a par with Morrowind; it's like the developers of Skyrim said, "We don't have time to work on minor quests. Just throw in some MMO-type missions, and oh, a lot of Draugr crypts." :(

I have never been able to understand the absolute rabid fanaticism about this game really... It looks beautiful and that is really about it. To me, the game seemed ridiculously boring, unpolished, and honestly not nearly as involved as Morrowind. To say that they do not have time is a ridiculous excuse and to me it proves they care more about money than game quality now. While morrowind had it's own flaws, it was at least playable straight out of the box. The same could not really be said for skyrim and oblivion to me.

I'll echo these sentiments. Skyrim is a good game, it is. However, for people who really like to role-play beyond, in which way will I kill a man today, it's super disappointing. All the quests are similar and the world kinda falls flat.

Hell, Oblivion was better than this. There were many different quests in that game and many of them didn't even make you leave town.

Oh well, at least the Dark Brotherhood is still a good questline.
