After yesterday's announcement of Kingdom Hearts 2.5, Square-Enix is revealing even more to further entice fans of the series. Early this morning, a 1:30 video was posted on YouTube, giving fans a look into how Kingdom Hearts 3 will likely play.
The first 30 seconds demonstrate classic Kingdom Hearts gameplay in the engine for Kingdom Hearts 3. Players of the first two main installments will feel right at home watching Sora swinging his keyblade and casting Fire at foes. Towards the end, his weapon appears to morph into some kind of twin pistols, shooting fireballs at the Heartless gathered, but this might not mean anything for now.
The next 15 seconds show Sora on a approximation of the Pirate Ship ride at Disney World. This appears to some form of attack, utilizing the motion of the ship to inflict damage on enemies.
Lastly, the remaining 45 seconds sees Sora and company fighting against the Rock Titan from Hercules, who made a guest appearance in the Hades Cup of Kingdom Hearts 1. Instead of using conventional gameplay, the party is riding the Big Magic Mountain (aka Big Thunder Mountain) roller coaster ride, striking at the beast when close. Finally, the battle ends with the group flinging the coaster into the titan from high up.
It is currently unknown as to whether or not the Disney World attractions will be some form of summons, set pieces thrown in at specific point in the game, Limit Break attacks, or something else entirely. We ultimately do not even know whether they will make the final cut. The morphing keyblade is also interesting. After Birth by Sleep, there is a precedence for it, but this is the first time keyblades have changed shape during combat. Kingdom Hearts 3 is currently in development, and a release date will likely not be announced until a few years down the line. What do you guys think? Comment below with your thoughts.
