The Walking Dead: Season 1 has become almost a textbook example of how to effectively tell an emotional, linear story through the medium of video games. Critics and fans were so enamored with the game that it quickly grew in popularity in a way I have never seen before with point-and-click adventure games. It even received Game of the Year from a number of outlets.
To celebrate the love from its fans, Telltale has seen fit to announce the release of the Game of the Year Edition of The Walking Dead: Season 1. This edition will include all five episodes of the first season, along with additional DLC episode, 400 Days. Other extras, like the game's soundtrack and an exclusive behind-the-scenes video, will also be included. It will, as of the time of writing, drop on November 19th at the price of $29.99. Given that Season 2 is expected to come out in the near future, this is exceptionally well timed for newcomers looking to take the plunge.
As someone whose already owned and played both the original game and 400 Days on Steam, this is not something I am likely to invest in. After all, I can get the soundtrack online and the behind the scenes stuff is not worth $29.99 alone. However, it is clearly not marketed towards me in the first place. I do think it is a good idea to capitalize on the impending release of Season 2, potentially bringing more people in. I hope those who have yet to play Telltale's The Walking Dead do invest in the GotY Edition, because it really is worth it. What do you guys think? Comment below with your thoughts.
