Those of you waiting to play Dust: An Elysian Tail since its release on XBLA don't have to wait much longer. The XBLA hit is coming to Steam on Windows May 24th, 2013. That's Friday! Dean Dodrill, affectionately referred to as "Noogy", announced the news with a tweet on his official account.

I gave the game a perfect score when it was released on XBLA. We'll surely have another review for the Steam version to let you know how it plays on the PC. However, if you're a furry and a fan of metroidvania-esque titles, you will not regret playing through this one.

SWTOR Update Adds Feline Cathar as Playable Race

swkotor cathar

Star Wars: The Old Republic Update 2.1 released today, featuring updates to the customization options in the game. Of these options, one is of very special interest to us furry gamers. The Cathar, the cat-like race from the planet of the same name, are now selectable as a race option from the Cartel Market.

Here's a little background on the highly-respected Cathar, from Wookieepedia:

"The Cathar were a species of feline, bipedal humanoids native to Cathar, a planet of savannas and rough uplands. They were known for their loyalty, passion, and temper. Quick and powerful, they were considered great warriors and dedicated, efficient predators. Cathar had high moral values, learned from both family and society. Their females were prized as slaves, whereas the males were generally regarded as too uncontrollable for slavery."

Go check out all of the other details about the update here.

Thanks to Jinxorskii for the tip!

Divekick on PS3 & Vita Features Playable Skunk Bear, "Redacted"

Divekick

Divekick is an indie-developed fighting game by One True Game Studios, a group of fighting game players who decided to make their jokes into a game. The characters in the game are parodies of other famous "dive-kick" using fighters, such as Yun, Yang, Rufus, Kung Lao, Wolverine and Doctor Doom. The game features a unique gameplay style, which uses only two buttons: one for dive and one for kick.

Of the announced characters, one of those is a female Skunk Bear, whose name has been Redacted. Really, that is the character's alias. She is a mother of three, and the PS.Blog recently detailed exactly what makes the anthro skunkette beary tick:

Dust: An Elysian Tail Steam Release Nears

Dust

In a Facebook post on Dust's Official Facebook page today, Dean Dodrill, the owner of Humble Hearts, detailed his progress on the Steam release:

"Not very nice of me to announce the Steam version of the game and leave everyone hanging, huh? Hopefully this update helps.

Right now the game is content complete, and I'm in the final stages of testing. While I don't have a launch date yet, I'm doing EVERYTHING in my power to have the game available sometime in May.

The game looks lovely at 1080p, and I'm actually really enjoying the mouse/keyboard controls with the revamped UI. Of course gamepad controls are in as well. The wait is nearly over, thank you for your patience!"

So, the game -may- be coming out in May, and the game now has confirmed 1080p and gamepad controls. In the comments for the story, Dean also discusses that he just started looking into pre-order/promo items, and we'll keep you updated on that. Also, he said that he's "talking to people" about fidget dolls.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL Limited Edition Listed Online

3dsanimalcrossing

Earlier this morning, a PAL version of the limited edition Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL bundle that had previously been released in Japan, was spotted available for pre-order on the UK shop ShopTo. Since then, it has been removed, predictably because it has not even yet been announced for a European or North American release.

ShopTo had listed the bundle at £189.85 and with a release date of June 14th, the same day New Leaf is dropping.

The bundle also included a copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a pre-installed digital download.

In what can't just be a coincidence, the listing comes just a day before a new 3DS-focused Nintendo Direct conference. We'll keep you updated on whether they announce this bundle then, and if it will be arriving in the States.

Gundog, the newest game from massive online game publisher OGPlanet, has now entered its beta test phase. The game features an undeniable furry influence, and includes only anthropomorphic canines as playable characters. You've gotta get in to play it quick though! It only runs from April 4-8!

The game features 6 different breeds of dogs, at least, and a multitude of classes. It is based on a card-collecting system, which allows you to craft a specific loadout for different classes. Looks very similar to TF2.

Check out the video below, and download the game on the official site.

Rayman Legends Delayed, Announced for Xbox 360 and PS3

raymanlegends

Rayman Legends, which was scheduled for an exclusive Wii U launch on February 26th, has been pushed all the way back to September. In addition, the game will be releasing alongside the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. How does a game go from less than 20 days away, to seven months, Ubisoft?

No idea, but I'm personally glad everyone will be able to play the game, since it looks like quite the epic four-person journey. Guess we'll have to wait just a bit longer. Quite the disappointment for Nintendo, though.

Inherit The Earth 2 Kickstarter Goes Live

ITEKickstarter

Wyrmkeep Entertainment, the company that owns the rights to the Inherit The Earth franchise, has announced the start of its Kickstarter campaign in order to produce a true sequel to the 1994 adventure classic. The goal is set at $135,000, which is a modest amount in comparison with the recent spree of successful Sierra kickstarters that hovered around half a million. The kickstarter campaign opening coincided with the sequel website going live, featuring concept art by various artists, most notably a sample piece by the artist collective "Blotch" (Kenket and BlackTeagan.)

More news to come soon on this new development.

Hero-U, Star Citizen Funded

Funded

Hero-U, the creation of longtime Sierra developers Corey and Lori Cole, successfully reached its kickstarter goal of $400,000 as of 8am Mountain time on November 11th. The Coles, who created the Quest For Glory franchise, are the latest developers to join what is being called the 'Sierra Renaissance'- the return of legendary Sierra developers thanks to the crowd-funding resources of Kickstarter. Interestingly enough, the "Renaissance" was spurred by an ex-Lucasarts designer, Tim Schafer (Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge and Day of the Tentacle) who achieved unprecedented success through his kickstarter. Former Sierra employees were quick to use Kickstarter to reach to their fanbases-- Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight), Al Lowe (Leisure Suit Larry), Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe (Space Quest) have all successfully reconnected with their fanbases and funded successful projects. With the return of the Coles, all of Sierra's past representative franchise designers are now back on the scene- with the exception of Sierra founders Ken and Roberta Williams (creators of the King's Quest  and Laura Bow series), who have expressed no desire as of yet to come out of retirement.

More information on Hero-U can be found at The Hero-U Website.

Also reaching its successful funding goal was Star Citizen, a space trading and combat simulator game for the PC by Chris Roberts. Roberts is a video game designer, programmer, film producer and film director best known for creating the Wing Commander series (which featured an anthropomorphic tiger race known as the 'Kilrathi') while working at Origin. Star Citizen is now on open beta and more information can be found at the game's website.
