Welcome to Part 2 of my series on the highly anticipated title Guild Wars 2. In this article I'll be going more in-depth with multiple Gameplay videos featuring a discussion of where the game is now and what features make this such an outstanding title. It's still in Beta but it looks great so far so feast your eyes and enjoy the show. Let's finish off the bulk of the Diessa Plateau in these next two gameplay segments.
As you can see the Diessa Plateau Campaign has been building to a full out conflict with the Flame Legion and the final quest of the campaign is going to send you on a sabotage mission into the heart of the Flame Legion HQ a level 25 zone that features a boss encounter in the core of the HQ. The look and feel of the zone changes as you enter the area which is a volcanic area with active environmental hazards. The boss encounter will keep you on your toes with adds showing up and I completed it with a group of 4 players and he was still able to down players several times during the fight.
As one Campaign comes to an end a new one begins and you move on to the new zones for level 25-35 characters. This includes the new Hub City of Lion's Arch which is expansive and detailed with many things to offer and is linked to many zones in the game through Asura Gates. To the north of Lion's Arch are the Gendarran Fields a massive varied zone with many lakes and rivers stretching from a swamp and grassy lowlands past large bodies of water complete with a strong pirate presence up into the hills and to the mountains in the northeast of the zone. For level 25's new to the zone they should keep to the road untill they get to the Southwest and can start leveling and questing. Right off they will be challenged by tough events and swarms of undead that pour out of a stinking swamp.
Players will be challenged by a tough event to save a traveler from hordes of undead along the road. Players should not try and solo this event as the hordes will overwhelm them and this is best handled in a group. Not even the roads near the swamp are safe and players should avoid getting too close to the swamp during the event as the undead will pour out of it in droves.
The zone is full of beauty and danger but screenshots only tell so much of the tale so let's see how it looks in a journey from the valley to one of the high castles in the mountains.
